A stone’s throw from Europe and we find are selves in a different time. If you think some of these look like the backdrop to a Hollywood movie, you are not wrong. Indiana Jones and Gladiator made a stop in one or two of these spots.

Drawings for a commission

These drawings were made in preparation for a commission. The piece was designed to draw together a number of elements that spoke of the professional career and life experience of the recipient of the final painting. The preparatory sketches, as is often the case turned out to have a life of their own.

This exhibition reveals the habit and pleasure that “beauty” takes in hiding itself in the simplest of things. Corners in which nobody pays attention, where beauty is not embellished, but is caught unaware, overlooked and hidden among lonely streets bathed in a warm shadow and covered by the blue awning of a clear sky.

There is beauty in the delicate qualities, in the details and smooth tones, in the abandoned balconies, the sealed doors and windows; filled with nostalgia, evocative of the passed, of all to which time has brought an end.
These cables that once allowed some form of communication now string out to nowhere. A dilapidated blind that someone once lowered to sleep the siesta in the shady half-light on a hot summers afternoon.
